Ex- Poison Clan supremo JT Money's first release since 1999 is a mix of his native Miami street smarts and macho posturing with some sophisticated West Coast rhythms and production techniques. Money here leavens his hard-line positions on women and their place in the world with some worldly advice on "Father to Son," while he may have a couple of long overdue successors to his 1999 hit "Who Dat?" on his hands with "Sosa on That Chocha" and "Hi-Lo," both immaculately tailored to being blasted out of cruising car windows on long hot summer nights. Elsewhere, "Niggaz Better Run," "Bustas and Haters," and "Where My Thugz At" testify to Money's unquestioned gangsta cred. But on BLOOD SWEAT AND YEARS, it's mostly the depth of his more far-reaching material that impresses, and points toward a brighter future than many of his contemporaries can hope for.
