南半球ニュージーランド最大の音楽賞、ボーダフォン・ニュージーランド・ミュージック・アウォード2012でベスト・クラシカル・アルバム賞(年間最優秀賞)に輝いた、クライストチャーチ出身の作曲家クリストファー・ブレイク(1949-)の弦楽オーケストラ作品集「アピハラの天使」。
ニュージーランドの写真家ロビン・モリソンが1994年に発表した「A Journey」の同国北部の風景と音楽をリンクさせた4作品。セピア色の風景を思わせるようなブレイクの音楽は、ニュージーランドの作曲界の"現在"を知るための大きな手掛かりとなることだろう。
