Solo performer: K.C. Douglas (vocals, guitar). Producers: Chris Strachwitz, Kenneth S. Goldstein. Recorded in Oakland in 1961. Originally released on Bluesville (1023). Includes original liner notes by Larry Cohn. Digitally remastered by Kirk Felton (1990, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley). Like Big Road Blues, K.C. Blues was recorded in 1961 during the peak of the blues revival. Unlike that record, which contained a number of songs he learned through Tommy Johnson, K.C.'s Blues consists primarily of original compositions that showcase Douglas' easy-rolling, relaxed style perfectly. ~ Thom Owens
