ノルウェーの作曲家アルネスの歌曲集です。以前発売となったピアノ作品集(TOCC0067)では、抒情的な音楽の中にノルウェーの民族音楽のメロディーやリズムを配した独自の作風が話題となりましたが、こちらの歌曲は、もっと彼の内面に即した繊細かつ表現力豊かなものです。こんなに愛らしい曲ばかりなのに、これらは一部の歌以外はほとんど歌われたこともないというのも驚きです。ピアノを弾いているエリクセンは、前述のピアノ作品集でも見事な演奏を聴かせていましたが、ここでは更に曲の内面へ踏み込んだ共感溢れる音楽を奏でています。アルネスの生誕140年と没後80年の記念アルバムとなります。
