Arriving hot on the heels of a series of Sugar reissues, post-punk pioneer Bob Mould returns with Silver Age, his first album of new material since 2009. Keeping with the sparkling, anthemic sound of his post-Husker Du work, his first album for Merge brings volume and heart in equal measure. Based on the album's first single, "The Descent," it seems that Mould is ringing in the 20th anniversary of Copper Blue by delivering a return to the eardrum-destroying pop sounds that made Sugar such an influential band.

商品の紹介

Rolling Stone - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[S]ugar-crusted blitzkriegs like 'Keep Believing' show he's doing fine on his own." Billboard - "[With] a supercharged hard-pop attack that should please fans of Foo Fighters....Mould coats the candied melodies of 'Steam of Hercules' and 'Round the City Square' in layers of guitar fuzz." Paste - "It's dense with guitars, which typically pummel and pound without letting up." Mojo - 4 stars out of 5 -- "SILVER AGE is the most consistently exciting record he's made since Sugar's COPPER BLUE, the 20-year-old album whose template it honours." Q - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Mould crafts catchy pop hooks for songs such as 'Star Machine' and the title track, then shoots them full of holes with guitar riffs and waves of noise."
