世紀末の感情が込められた女流作曲家

オーストリア皇帝にも仕えた上流階級の家に生まれたマティルデ・フォン・クラクリ(1857-1944)。音楽一家でもあった彼女は、1876年にウィーン音楽院に入学し、ブルックナーより対位法など学び、またマーラーも参加していた音楽サークルの一員でもありました。男性優位の芸術女性排外主義の時代の中、彼女の作曲は著名な詩人、哲学者、文化史研究家もうならせるもので、差別的な発言で悪名高い批評家でさえ「将来に大きな可能性を秘めた本物の芸術家」と高く評価をしたそうです。彼女は、ピアノ曲、室内楽、歌曲、宗教的合唱曲などのジャンルに徹して、生涯にわたって多くの作品を生み出しました。ここに収録された歌曲は、繊細さ、叙情性、感情、遊び心、気まぐれなど、直感的な本質に触れたもので、ゴージャスなメロディーと独創的な調和が印象的です。
