アラン・ブランクはヴァイオリニストでもあり、ジュリアード音楽院で学んだ後、ピッツバーグ響でヴァイオリニストとして活動の傍ら、多くの作品を発表している。「ホロコーストからの詩集」は第二次大戦中の強制収容所で亡くなった子供の詩と2人のユダヤ人の詩人アブラハム・スツケーベルとイザヤ・シュピーゲルの詩に基づくヒューマニスティックな内容の歌曲集。「導入・5つの詩・序奏と結尾」はジェーン・ケニュオンの詩による、近代フランス音楽を思わせる抒情的な歌曲。
