Recording information: Basic Studio, Italy; Fly Eye Studio, London. The Ultra label jumped on commercial dubstep -- the sleek form of dubstep with absolutely no connection to dub reggae -- with full force. Here's a summary of their late-2000s/early-2010s releases that either qualify as such or fit into the framework of a dubstep-oriented mix without clashing. (Some of the selections lack the deep and grinding bass riffs and are more like electronic pop than anything else.) It's a generous survey that features tracks and remixes from the likes of Kaskade and Skrillex, Magnetic Man, Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Zeds Dead, Skream, and Deadmau5.
