ジョス・ストーンの新作は、デビュー作の続編となるソウル・カヴァー集。原点回帰というわけだが、アーニー・アイズレーもギターで参戦した今作の選曲は、サザン～ディープ寄りだった第1集から70年代を中心とした都会的なソウルにシフトし、デルズやシャイ・ライツ、ハニー・コーンなどの名曲を強気な姐御調で歌い倒す。一方、故シルヴィアの“Pillow Talk”では原曲さながらの妖しくセクシーな歌唱で迫り、9年前とは違う大人の色気や余裕を振りまいている。ラビ・シフレやリンダ・ルイス曲、UKでヒットしたウーマック&ウーマック“Teardrops”を取り上げる英国人らしいチョイス、また、ブロークン・ベルズ曲を歌う現代っ子らしい感覚も痛快。レトロ・ソウル・ブームの先導者による本領発揮の秀作だ。
