英国史上最大の男性アイドル・グループTAKE THATの中心人物からソロに転じ、国民的な人気とリスペクトを集めるGary Barlow。本国イギリスではBarlowがエリザベス女王の即位60周年記念曲(Diamond Jubilee song)を手掛けるというニュースで話題はもちきり。しかもあの大作曲家Andrew Lloyd Webberがサポートすることが決まり、さらに英国王室のHarry王子がミュージシャンとして参加するのでは?という噂がたつに及んで、全国民的な注目を集めることになった。その記念曲「Sing」は、BarlowとWebberの共作曲で、Internatyional VersionとGreat Britain versionの2つが収められている。International versionには英国軍人婦人会のクワイアとして有名なMilitary WivesがVOCALで参加。旧宗主国オーストラリアのSydney Symphony Orchestraがバックを務める。そして噂通り、Harry王子がタンバリン/パーカッションで参加している。またバック・コーラスとしてLydia and the African Children's Choir、バグパイプの演奏にAustralian Federal Police Pipes and Drums、ドラム隊としてThe Royal Solomon Island Police Bandも参加。ソロモン諸島の民族楽器"パンパイプ"の演奏はソロモンを代表する御本家The Narasirato Panpipesによる。録音はオーストリアのThe Sydney Opera Houseや英国Abbey Road Studios、ジャマイカのGeejam Studios等で行われた。まさに"Commonwealth Band"と呼ぶにふさわしい豪華な布陣である。本曲以外にも、George Harrison作の「Here Comes The Sun」をBarlowが歌ったカヴァーの収録や、英国を代表するトラディショナル曲「Amazing Grace」へのHayley Westenraの参加も話題である。

Sing was written by Take That frontman Gary Barlow and theatre supremo Andrew Lloyd Webber in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Performed by Barlow and artists from across the world who form the Commonwealth Band, the song includes contributions recorded in Australia, Africa, Jamaica and the South Pacific. Also featured on the release are the Military Wives, Hayley Westenra, Laura Wright, Alfie Boe and a cameo tambourine tap from Prince Harry. Their diverse vocals are lent to a variety of covers such as "Here Comes the Sun" and "Land of Hope and Glory".|
