For his third outing, Curumin has made a delicious modern MPB album, great Brazilian pop heavily tinged with electronica and an international outlook. There are, for instance, a few touches of reggae, with "Vestido de Prata" and the delicious slow skank of "Doce" alongside bouncy anthems like "Blimblim" and "Sapo Cururu," which are pure Brazilian funk. But this is definitely modern pop, ranging from the trombone-inflected "Treme Terra" to the ache of "Paris Vila Matilde." Curumin shifts gears easily, able to pull out slinky, sensual sounds, and offers the neo-psychedelia of "Pra Nunca Mais." It's not a long album, but there's enough music here, all of excellent quality, to satisfy. If there's any justice, he'll follow his more illustrious Brazilian compatriots to fame. ~ Chris Nickson
