ポップ・ミュージックのフォーマットを完全に無視したフリーキーかつアヴァンギャルドでディープな世界を見せつけてきたニューヨーク出身のアート・ロック・バンドLIARS。2年ぶりの新作となる本作は米ロサンゼルスでレコーディングが行なわれ、LIARSのプロデュース、MUTEの創始者Daniel Millerのアディショナル・プロデュース、前作同様、Kanye West、Beck等の作品で知られるTom Billerのミックスで完成された。"Joe Jackson「Steppin' OutのLIARS版だよ(笑)」とHemphillも語っている、LIARSとしては珍しいほどのクリアなメロディをピーキーなビートに乗せた「No.1 Against the Rush」は既に公開されており、新譜を待ちに待ったリスナーの期待を煽りまくる。他にもAndrewのファルセットと繊細なアコースティック・ギターがエレガントな世界を紡ぎあげている「Ill Valley Prodigies」や、意外にもストレートなダンス・ミュージックを展開した「Brats」等、ファンの期待を良い意味で裏切る意外な仕掛けが用意されている。さて、LIARSがこれからどこへ行こうとしているのか、その耳で確かめてみないか?
