Sweden's monochromatically clad garage punk heroes the Hives make their driving return with their fifth album, Lex Hives. Released through the band's own Disque Hives label, the album promises to bring a mix of new and familiar sounds, with the bandmembers themselves hinting that a few songs from the album will be a departure from the group's normally driving sound. Lex Hives is expected to appear in the summer, but until it hits the shelves fans can check out the album's first single, "Go Right Ahead."

活きの良い若手バンドというイメージのあったハイヴスも、もう20年近い活動歴を持つヴェテラン。ガレージ・ロックを続けていくとだんだん大味になってしまいがちだが、このアルバムは、自分たちの〈ガレージ・バンドとしての存在意味〉をしっかり把握しているかの如く、シンプルかつコンパクト、小気味良くてキャッチーで、非常にポップな仕上がりだ。楽曲の良さと〈バンドで演る〉ってことに的が絞られている。

Lex Hives｜CDアルバム
ゴチャゴチャはしていないがガチャガチャしている、それが良い。一曲一曲の長さは割と短くズバーン！と駆け抜けていく印象、曲自体は非常にキャッチ―なものばかりで楽しく聴けるアルバムです。
