Personnel: Ashley Monroe, Young Hines (vocals); Mark Watrous (guitars, keyboards); Jay Joyce, Jon Auer, Sam Farrar (guitars); Max Abrams (alto saxophone, baritone saxophone); Mitch Reilly (tenor saxophone); Jon-Paul Frappier (trumpet); Andrew Higley, Ken Stringfellow, Billy Livsey (keyboards); Brad Pemberton (drums, percussion). Audio Mixers: Chris Mara; Brendan Benson. Recording information: Welcome To 1979, Nashville, TN. Photographer: Jo McCaughey. Released to coincide with his son's second birthday, Brendan Benson's 2012 album What Kind of World is the singer/songwriter's fifth studio effort and first for his own record label, Readymade, which Benson officially launched in 2011 and first used on his Wellfed Boys demos from the '90s. Recorded in Nashville, the follow-up to 2009's My Old, Familiar Friend once again showcases the Raconteurs member's unique brand of melodic pop and guitar-based rock. Featured on the album are guest appearances by such similarly inclined Benson associates as the Posies' Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, as well as songwriting collaborations with country singer Ashley Monroe and Readymade signee Hines Young. What Kind of World includes the leadoff single "Bad for Me."

商品の紹介

Uncut (p.67) - "'No One Else But You' throws around jazzy major-sevenths before exploding into a Wings-worthy chorus, while 'Come On' fizzes irresistibly." Q (Magazine) (p.91) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[H]ere he wrestles with his demons and comes out on top....The combination of razor-wire riffing and ghostly swamp blues makes a perfect case for music as therapy."
