全米7位に喰い込んだ前作から3年ぶり、ジャックナイフ・リーをプロデューサーに迎えたこの3作目でも、彼らは変拍子を織り交ぜた緻密なアンサンブルでもって、90年代オルタナの美学を伝えてくれる。だが、〈スマパンのフォロワー〉と見る向きも、そろそろいかがなものかと思う。というのも、本作ではディストーション・ギターを控えめにし、フォークっぽい楽曲にもトライ。独自の路線を印象付けているのだから。
