Nanci Griffith's Intersection is a tightrope walk between her trademarked brand of post-romantic, Texas singer/songwriter Americana, and folkish country-pop. Recorded at her home studio in Nashville with a familiar cast of players, Intersection is Griffith's 20th album; nine of its 12 songs were self-penned or co-written. The covers include readings of Blaze Foley's "If I Could Only fly," Loretta Lynn's High on a Mountain Top," and Ron Davies' "Waiting on a Dark-Eyed Gal." The set also features one near rock & roll stomper in "Hell No (I'm Not Alright)" co-written with Maura Kennedy.
