A departure from the jammier, more improvisatory sound of their earlier albums, this effort finds the band heading into the studio with material that's already been refined on the road. Not just changing their songwriting formula, White Hills also went for a change of venue, leaving the familiar psychedelic waters of Oneida's Ocropolis studio in favor of recording with producer Martin Bisi, who has worked with artists like Swans, Helmet, Unsane, and Sonic Youth at his Brooklyn studio, BC.
