Yeah, Take 6 are a gospel vocal group at heart, but their fusion of gospel with street corner doo wop, jazzy African rhythms, and -- on their recent albums -- sparse but refreshing and inventive instrumentation makes them something else again, until it hardly matters if the music is secular or sacred.
