Tracy Byrd's easygoing and often humorous neo-honky tonk style puts him somewhere between Waylon Jennings and Jimmy Buffett in the contemporary country universe, and he's quietly built a nice little stable of hits since he released his first album in 1993. Byrd certainly knows his way around a ballad, and he knows as well that there are times to let loose and rock like its Saturday night forever, and he knows how to pick a good song. That he does. Byrd has assembled a catalog of songs that should keep him in front of audiences for a long, long time, and while he's done the Nashville thing, he seems to be outside of it, too, another in a talented line of Texas honky tonkers. This 11-track set collects some of Byrd's biggest chart hits, including "I'm from the Country," "Holdin' Heaven," "(Don't Take Her) She's All I Got" and the unforgettable "Watermelon Crawl," among others, but there are some key pieces missing here, most notably "4 to 1 in Atlanta," the chart-topping "Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo," and the Buffett one-up "How'd I Wind Up in Jamaica."
