Ever busy, Robert Pollard followed Guided by Voices' long-awaited reunion album Let's Go Eat the Factory with another solo album, Mouseman Cloud, just months later. (Never mind that he'd released two other solo albums, Space City Kicks and Lord of the Birdcage, in 2011 alone!) This set of songs finds the prolific indie singer/songwriter -- who's aided by producer/multi-instrumentalist Todd Tobias -- in a rough-and-tumble, spontaneous mood, with wordplay taking priority over melodies. Ramshackle rockers like "Obvious #1" aren't worlds apart from Let's Go Eat the Factory, but that should suit Pollard's fans just fine.
