A BESTIARY OF THE CREATURES collects the early recordings by this Siouxsie and the Banshees spinoff starring singer Siouxsie Sioux and drummer Budgie, featuring the entirety of their 1983 album FEAST and assorted EP and 7" tracks. This collection features the Creatures' early-1980s releases, including the full-length debut, FEAST, ably showcasing the sensual, dynamic singing of Siouxsie Sioux and the percussive might and dexterity of Budgie. Moonlighting from their work as part of Siouxsie & the Banshees, the duo (who would later marry) use a minimal palette (primarily vocals and drums) to create a surprisingly full sound that's steeped in atmosphere (the lilting "Thumb"), tribal-influenced fury (the frenetic "Sky Train"), and big-band boisterousness (a horn-laden cover of Herbie Mann's "Right Now"), with the swinging latter style hinting at both future Banshees and Creatures outings.
