イギリス音楽ファン必携！ エルガー自作自演1914-25集成！
約100年前の録音が信じられないほど鮮やかに！
サー・エドワード・エルガー（1857-1934）は「パーセル以後イギリスは音楽において低迷を続けている」との汚名を払拭するべく大英帝国からの期待を一身に受けたのかどうか、録音機器開発初期からHMV（イギリスEMI）に多くの自作を録音する機会に恵まれました。この時期、小編成のアンサンブルならともかくエルガーの主要な管弦楽曲をこれほどさかんに録音出来たのはエルガーが当時のイギリスの代表的作曲家として期待されていたこと、そしてもちろんイギリスEMIの録音技術の高さを物語るものといえましょう。録音は全てEMI収蔵音源で最古の録音が第1次大戦の約5ヶ月前ですが保存状態は極めてよく、リマスターの効果（2011年新リマスター）もあり、ノイズも最小限で純粋に鑑賞に耐えうる内容です。イギリス音楽の好きな方は手元に置いておいて損のないセットです。ぜひこの機会に!
