Among major league `60s rock & rollers, there is no discography as confusing as that of the Yardbirds. True, the Small Faces may run a close second, but those essentially recycle existing recordings: many of the Yardbirds' non-canonical sessions belong to a variety of copyright holders who happily license them to anybody that will foot the bill, causing intense catalog confusion. エリック・クラプトン、ジェフ・ベック、ジミー・ペイジを輩出した伝説のバンド、ヤードバーズのクラプトンが在籍した初期から、ジミー・ペイジが加入し、バンドが解散するまでの全時代のスタジオ・セッション、BBCなどのラジオ/TVセッション(BBC音源はほぼ網羅)、ライヴなど貴重な音源または初出音源で構成された驚愕の5枚組アンソロジー。ディスク1はエリック・クラプトン在籍時(1963-64)のスタジオ・アウトテイク、デモ、ライヴなど22曲に加えクラプトンらメンバーのインタヴューを収録。ディスク2はクラプトンが脱退し、ジェフ・ベックが加入した65年(一部66年音源も収録)のBBCなどのラジオ音源、ライヴ、ドイツでのTVライヴなど22曲に加えインタヴュー、CMを収録。ディスク3はジミー・ペイジが加入する65～66年にかけてのスタジオ・セッション、イギリス、アメリカ、フランス、イタリアでのライヴなど27曲に加えラジオ・スポット、インタヴュー(ジェフ・ベックによるラヴィ・シャンカールへのインタヴューも!)を収録。ディスク4はジェフ・ベックが脱退しジミー・ペイジ時代となり解散するまでの67～68年にかけてのライヴ(ストックホルム、フランス)、スタジオ・セッション(ロンドン、ニューヨーク)など19曲(ラストは「幻惑されて」のライヴ・ヴァージョン)に加えジミー・ペイジらのインタヴューを収録。ディスク5はBBCラジオ・ワンでの65～68年(ベック、ペイジ時代)にかけて録音された演奏25曲とインタヴューを収録。詳細な英文解説の対訳付。
