Electronic music has long been a melting pot of various styles and permutations, incorporating other musical genres and indigenous cultural musics. The exoticism and rich tonalities of Brazilian and Latin music have been snapped up by the fine folks at Caipirinha, and packaged within this wonderfully energising compilation.
The large cadre of both known (Amon Tobin, DJ Soul Slinger) and unknown quantities (Bid, cYz, I.N. Project) prowling the popular Brazilian/electronica interface makes a case for a bold new fusion via CAIPIRISSIMA's kickin' grooves. DJ Dolores pumps out some wicked drum-and-bass liquor on "Monica No Samba", while the aforementioned Amon Tobin rips through genre music's membrane on "Sub Tropic", where synths and timbales fight it out with bamboo swords in humid rainforests of sound and texture.|
