When Oasis split up in August 2009, the Gallagher brothers bounced back by both forming their own side-projects. Liam Gallagher launched Beady Eye that same year, retaining most of Oasis’ lineup and cranking up his love for ‘60s rock & roll. Meanwhile, Noel reached out to musicians from different bands to piece together the High Flying Birds, whose music struck a balance between Oasis’ epic pop/rock and the Kinks’ lush psychedelia. Released in October 2011, the album also proved Noel’s willingness to step out of his comfort zone with songs like “The Death of You and Me,” which featured a marching band’s horn section.|

オアシス脱退から2年を経て完成した初ソロ作は、ノエルがこの世代トップのソングライターであることを再認識させると同時に、知っているようで知らなかった彼の人間性や美意識を紐解く、確認と発見のアルバムだ。ノエル節の古風な曲を、ホーン隊や合唱団を含む多数のミュージシャンを交えて、アメリカーナからディスコまで幅広いスタイルを網羅しつつ丁寧に構築。自分がフロントに立ちながらも、チーム・プレイヤーかつ職人的な本質が従来以上に強く出ており、バンド風の名義も納得できるというもの。そして、次々に異なる景色を描くサウンドでロード・ムーヴィーを思わせる歌詞の世界を鮮やかに演出し、巧みなストーリーテリングを披露する彼は、ロマンティストな本性を見え隠れさせている。

後期(といっていいのか)ｵｱｼｽそのまんま…。さらにﾓﾛにｱｺｰｽﾃｨｯｸﾋﾞｰﾄﾙｽﾞ。万人ｳｹを狙ったﾉｴﾙ。ちょっと期待と違った…。

曲自体のクオリティが高く、アレンジも素晴らしい。
中期～後期あたりのOasisにみられたシブさがあり、ノエル節炸裂の名盤。
ソロ第一作目は素晴らしいスタートを切ったようでなによりです。

(^_^)v曲がいいですね。ﾋﾞｨｰﾃﾞｨｰｱｲも良かったけど、やはり曲作りはﾉｴﾙに軍配があがるかな(^O^)来年には次の作品が出るようで、そちらも楽しみです。
