CD compilation of the hits by the late Gonzaguinha, important singer/composer of sambas and romantic songs who is acclaimed by his extreme sensibility in approaching the feminine universe, also having a strong social bend in the activist lyrics. This compilation is not as good as the one included in the 2 CD's series, which consists of this disk and the second volume all for the price of one CD. Many artists recorded several of these songs, and many of its songs were recorded by Maria Bethania, who strongly identified herself with the touching poetry of Gonzaguinha. "Grito de Alerta," "Nao Da Mais Pra Segurar," "Comecaria Tudo Outra Vez," "Sangrando," "Diga La, Coracao," "Um Homem Tambem Chora," and "Espere Por Mim, Morena" are all romantic songs of sensitive inspiration. "O Que E, O Que E" is a samba arrasta-povo celebrating happiness, a theme seldom approached by Gonzaguinha. Another light song is the ballad "Eu Apenas Queria Que Voce Soubesse." "Lindo Lago Do Amor" is a disco-oriented and a bit corny tune. "Comportamento Geral" was his first hit, and also brought him the enmity of the military government -- from then on, censorship would veto most of his songs. ~ Alvaro Neder
