Each of the songs finds the pacesetting cool jazz outfit featuring Latin rhythms, either by an extra percussionist (Carlos Vidal or Jack Costanzo) or bandmembers banging on percussion when not soloing. There are quite a few one-chord sections in these jams and among the ten numbers are two versions of "Viva Zapata" and three versions of "Witch Doctor." The soloists include many of the top members of Rumsey's groups including Shorty Rogers, Chet Baker, Conte Candoli, Milt Bernhart, Frank Rosolino, Bob Cooper, Herb Geller, Jimmy Giuffre, Bud Shank, Sonny Clark, Hampton Hawes, Claude Williamson, Max Roach and others.
