This ninth studio album from the soulful rocker is the follow-up to 2008's It Is Time for a Love Revolution. His long-awaited "funk" album, which has been in the works for more than seven years, it sees him digging deep into the '60s and '70s to produce a work that is undeniably funky while also incorporating elements of bubblegum pop and his trademark old-school hard rock guitar sound. Producing and playing almost all of the instruments on the album himself, Kravitz has given it a warm, retro analog feel. レニー・クラヴィッツが長年在籍したヴァージンからロードランナーに移籍し、3年ぶりのニュー・アルバムを完成させた。今回は母親の故郷・バハマで録音され、すべての楽器をほぼ一人で演奏したこともあってか、全編に渡ってシンプルなサウンドが印象的だ。ガッツ溢れるロックンロールで心機一転をアピールしているかと思いきや、そういう曲はNBAのテーマソングに使われた“ComeOn Get It"のみで、主軸はむしろ大半を占める70年代風のソウルやファンク、ディスコ路線の楽曲となる。いまのレニーはメロウなモードにあるらしい。もちろん、それもまた彼の持ち味。ジェイ・Zやドレイク、スウィズ・ビーツらヒップホップ勢の参加がそんなアルバムにアクセントを加えている。
