Treading the path of Taking Back Sunday and A Day to Remember, These Hearts craft a gutsy juxtaposition of post-hardcore and screamo. The North Dakota quintet toggles back and forth between youthful modern rock and dirt-pounding metal, often line by line. The mid-verse mood swings propel songs like "Apology Rejected" and "Live to the Point of Tears" along a trajectory that appeals to the angst of young teens but also makes it difficult to get to the "heart" of the band's beliefs.
