Recorded between 1954 and 1956. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Personnel: Elvis Presley; Scotty Moore, Bill Black. While the music Elvis performed on the "Louisiana Hayride" radio show remains as exciting as it did when he first unleashed it in 1954, the way in which this package was put together proves totally unnecessary. The docu-drama narration provided by original "Hayride" MC Frank Page could have easily been transferred to the liner notes. Instead you hear 15 minutes of narration before actually getting to these legendary performances, only to be interrupted on numerous occasions as the program proceeds. While the narration was meant to highlight the historical value of these sessions, it only achieves to undermine them. This could have been one disc of amazing early Elvis, some of the most engaging and historic live performances of his career; instead, Good Rockin Tonight never gets up to speed because of continuous interruptions.
