Following a well-received Pt. 1, Six Feet Down Under, Pt. 2 wasn't released in Australia and New Zealand until November 2010, pulling together eight tracks from a tour of those regions earlier that year, as voted on by members of the Metallica Fan Club. Unlike Pt. 1's collection of fan-made bootleg recordings, here we have professional live footage, including a fair share of crowd singalongs on almost every song, down to the wordless, falsetto woo-ing along to the guitar solo from "Fade to Black"! It's interesting to note that of the fan-voted songs, nothing past 1988's And Justice for All made the cut. A few tracks from that record, several from Master of Puppets, and even a still-thrashing-after-all-these-years sendup of "The Four Horsemen" from the band's debut LP Kill 'Em All are here, but there's nothing from the group's '90s and 2000s output. It's also interesting that this would-be "EP" clocks in at just under an hour. While it's great to hear Metallica play these classic songs from their true prime, the over-the-top "Can you feel it, Sydney??!!" stage banter, along with ceaseless crowd noise make Six Feet Down Under, Pt. 2 very much a fan club rarity, and pretty much inessential for even a deeper fan. ~ Fred Thomas
