The 1910 Fruitgum Company was the first project by bubblegum masterminds and Super K Productions founders Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz after they left Cameo/Parkway, where they'd had some success with the Music Explosion and the Ohio Express for Neil Bogart's fledgling Buddah label. Unlike most of Super K Productions' groups, which were purely studio creations, the 1910 Fruitgum Company actually were a real band, a New Jersey group formerly known as Jeckyll and the Hydes.
However, by the time of their third single, "1-2-3 Red Light," only singer Mark Gutkowski remained, and even he was temporarily booted for the next single "Goody Goody Gumdrops." Like most Super K projects, the 1910 Fruitgum Company only lasted for about half a dozen singles, all of which are featured here, plus selected album tracks and b-sides. "Indian Giver" and "Simon Says" are the highlights.
録音 : モノラル/ステレオ (Studio)
