何度もリマスターされていますが、最新リマスターは音に厚みが出て更に新鮮に聴けました。デモ音源も良かったです。ロンドンタウン、プレストゥプレイ、ヤァ！ブロードストリート、バッグトゥジエッグの最新リマスターを早く出して欲しい！！

『バンド・オン・ザ・ラン』50周年記念エディション｜SHM-CD
既に五つ星評価済みのアルバムだが、”50周年記念エディション”について、少しだけ触れたい。ポイントは２つある。
まず、２枚目として添付されている”アンダーダブド"・ミックス”という追加盤だ。正直、”その手があるのなら、『ロンドン・タウン』の再発の理由付けとしても使ってほしい”と言いたい。お蔵入りのテープを集めた豪華版など必要ないから、順番飛ばしされた70年代後半の２作品の再リリースをお願いする。今回のラフ・ミックスを聴いてみないことには要・不要の判断はできないが、少なくとも”再発の理由付け”が必要というのであれば、個人的には”あり”だし、家人への購入理由にもなり得る、と考えている。
もう１つが、曲者「愛しのヘレン」の取扱いだ。ＵＫオリジナル盤の９曲編成で”無問題”かつ”完璧”なのに、アメリカではなぜかこのシングル単品リリースされたこの曲がレコードＢ面の途中に付け加えられていた。ポールのアルバムでも異例のＶＩＰ待遇的な挿入だが、遡ると”25周年盤”も同様のランナップだったし、ポールの意向を確認しているはずなので、このスタイルが”定番”なのかもしれない。だが、この曲の入っていない『バンド・オン・ザ・ラン』に慣れ親しんでいた自分にとしては、アルバムの途中に登場するこの異質の存在感には少なからず”違和感”を覚える。
ともあれ、”50周年記念盤”としてリリースされることは喜ばしいことには違いない。貴重なリンダの写真を眺めながら、ロサンゼルスに降る雨を唄う「マムーニア」をじっくり聴くとしよう。
