ドラゴン対若者の、冒険アドベンチャー。監督は『コルベット・サマー』（懐かしい！）『ニューヨーク東8番街の奇跡』のマシュー・ロビンス。音楽は、ファンタジーものは珍しい巨匠アレックス・ノースだが、『スパルタカス』のイメージなのでしょうか。あれほど、強烈に美しいテーマが出てくるわけではありませんが、冒険もののスペクタクル音楽の中でも、本作は、高音を使った美しいメロディの展開が多く、ファンタジー・サウンドの中でも、特色ある聴き応えになっている。 (C)馬場敏裕
