Still inspired by their STICKY FINGERS recording sessions in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, EXILE ON MAIN STREET found the Rolling Stones sounding more like a Southern fried juke-joint band than ever before. That EXILE was recorded in a basement is no surprise, either--much of it sounds as if it was recorded live at a gospel revival, with a final mix that gives no hierarchy to specific instruments. The result is a swampy, most exhilarating chunk of rock & roll euphoria. EXILE sharpens the country, blues, and gospel tendencies the Stones began exploring in the late '60s on albums like BEGGAR'S BANQUET. Here, armed with an assortment of backing musicians and vocalists, the band virtually inhabits the spirit of each style, distilling the whole to a ragged, soulful perfection. From the escalating, horn-driven vamps of "Rocks Off" through the back porch singalong "Sweet Virginia" to the mean blues stomp of "Ventilator Blues" and the church-like strains of "Shine a Light," EXILE's double-album length plays like a weary, boozed-up sermon on the very meaning of rock music. This is the closest the band ever came to religion, and it still has the power to convert.

ザ・ローリング・ストーンズ、1972年の傑作アルバム『メイン・ストリートのならず者』がリマスター化！こちらは、2CDにDVD（このヴァージョンのみ）、LP2枚を加えたLPサイズのスーパー・デラックス・エディション。DVDには、アルバム制作時のドキュメンタリー映像、 1974年に公開されたThe Rolling Stonesのコンサート映画、『Ladies & Gentlemen』からのクリップ、伝説の未発表映画、『Cocksucker Blues』からのクリップなどを収録。LPは、リマスターされた音源をオリジナル・リリース時と同じ2枚組LP。ヘヴィウェイト・ヴァイナル仕様で白い紙製の内袋入り。6面の観音開きパッケージで、サイズは310×318mm 。左右にLP収納用の2つのポケットがあり、中央のパネルには半月の形をした細長いスロットが3つ付いている。さらに驚くほど美しい92ページのハード･カヴァー・ブック付き。サイズは約310×318mm。46枚の用紙を92ページに施した完璧な装丁で、4つのセクションに分かれている。外側は2mmの灰色の複合材板を使用、背表紙はリネン・シルクスクリーン印刷によるラミネート加工が施されている。Dominic TarleとEthan Russellによる約60枚の独占写真、新しいインタビューを使用したPaul Sextonによる長文エッセイを掲載。2mmの複合材板を使用したハード･カヴァー・スリップケースは取り出し易くするための小さな親指サイズの切り込みが入っており、外面は艶消しのカラー印刷でラミネート加工が施されている。4枚のカラー・ポストカード入り。

メイン・ストリートのならず者＜初回生産限定盤＞｜SHM-CD
時代を超えて聴き続けられる大名盤。
ライブでは何度も演奏されているのに何故かベスト盤には収録されない「オール・ダウン・ザ・ライン」はミック・テイラーのスライドギターが必聴。
ロック、ブルース、カントリー、ゴスペルなど多彩なジャンルを自分達のスタイルに昇華してしまうセンスは流石。

Exile On Main Street｜LPレコード
72年作。キースリチャーズの自宅でセッションを重ね作られたと言われている傑作。ストーンズのメンバーが持つルーツを最大限に掘り下げ２枚組に落とし込んだ大作。その後のキャリアに欠かせない代表曲「Tumbling Dice」も収録。

メイン・ストリートのならず者 ［SACD[SHM仕様]］＜生産限定盤＞｜SACD
悪いとは思いませんが，このアルバムがストーンズの最高傑作だとは思いません．オール・ダウン・ザ・ライン以外はギター演奏に力強さがなく，当時のハードロックを意識したミックのボーカルがなければ失敗作になっていたはずです．
ただし，これまでＣＤ化された「メイン・ストリートのならず者」の中ではこのバージョンが最も素晴らしいです．一つ一つの楽器の音がクリアで演奏のバランスも見事です．
