Michael Kamen is a master at capturing nostalgia, especially when the age in question is the bittersweet "tie a yellow ribbon" landscape of World War II. For the HBO mini-series Band of Brothers, Kamen re-visits much of the same territory he explored with fellow sepia-tone junkie Roger Waters on Pink Floyd's The Wall and The Final Cut. Alternately tragic and uplifting, Band of Brothers is a raw, patriotic, and wistfully elegiac tome of swelling choirs, salvation army brass band, and melodious strings that compliment the series' balanced depiction of the horrors of war and the unpredictable sweetness of humanity. ~ James Christopher Monger

「バンド・オブ・ブラザーズ」ＴＶシリーズ・サウンドトラック 音楽　マイケル・ケイメン トム・ハンクスや、デヴィッド・フランケル（「セックス・ アンド・シティ」や「フロム・アース・トゥ・ザ・ムーン」などの エピソードも監督した）やフィル・アルデン・ロビンソン（「フィールド・ オブ・ドリームス」）らが監督した、２００１年アメリカＨＢＯ テレビ・ミニ・シリーズのサントラ。 製作総指揮スティーヴン・スピルバーグ、製作もトム・ハンクスは 兼ねるということで、まさにＴＶ版「もうひとつのプライベート・ライアン」 ともいえる戦争ドラマ。音楽はスピルバーグ系での登板は珍しい マイケル・ケイメン。映画ではなかなか見せない表情豊かな 感動の演出と、心に響くメロディを美しく奏で、まさにレクイエムな サントラに仕上げている。ヴォーカル・パフォーマンスにモイア・ ブレナンも参加したラスト・ナンバーは鳥肌モノの美しさで必聴。 美しい感動の本格派スコア系ファンに人気の盤です。 (C)馬場敏裕
