20世紀、コンスタンティン・オルベリアンによるロシアのレコード会社では比類無いロシア作品の様々な録音が行われ、高い評価を得ていました。中でもショスタコーヴィチの映画音楽を収録した4作品は最も高い評価を得たアルバムでした。残念なことにそのレーベルは1990年の終わりに営業を終了しましたが、いまだに人気の高いその音源がDELOSレーベルに引き継がれ、再発売される運びとなりました。その第1弾となるのが「ゾーヤ」です。
ショスタコーヴィチはソヴィエトの映画音楽の先駆者として知られており、1929年から1971年にかけて、30作品の映画音楽を作曲しました。彼の残した映画音楽は非常に劇的に雄弁で、色鮮やかな絵画を見るような感動を聞き手に届けてくれます。
