1956年から、年代を追って貴重な45回転シングルの数々をコンパイルしてきたシングル・コレクション・シリーズの第8弾。JBが"The Godfather Of Soul"となり、James Brown Orchestraに代わりJBのバックを務め始めたThe J.B'sとのコンビネーションも円熟味を増した時代。若者にアンチ・ドラッグを警鐘する「King Heroin」、バンドのスーパー・ファンキー・サウンドがたまらない「Pass The Peas」、「Doing It To Death」、JBが試みたLyn Collinsとのポップ・デュエット曲「What My Baby Needs Now Is A Little More Lovin'」等全40曲収録。未発表のヴォーカル・ヴァージョンの「Hot Pants Road」、シングル・ヴァージョンの「Honky Tonk」、UKのみでリリースされた「I Know It's True」、モノラル・プロモ・ミックスの「Ants」、Fred Wesleyによるシングル・カヴァー・ヴァージョンの「Watermelon Man」(JBがドラムを担当)など、貴重音源も満載で、全ての音源はアナログのシングル・マスターからリマスタリング。その中の数曲は初CD化。
