放映３０周年となるＢＢＣテレビ・シリーズ のカルト作品のサントラ。 『地球に生きる』(1979TV) サウンドトラック 音楽　エドワード・ウィリアムス 監督　デビッド・アッテンボロー リチャードの弟、デビッド・アッテンボローは自然界の ドキュメンタリー映像作家として評価が高い。その代表作 ともいえるのが、この作品で、Ｄ・アッテンボローは、かの 『ブルー・プラネット』や『プラネット・アース』にも関わることに なる。いわばＢＢＣの自然ドキュメントの原点を作った人物。 この『地球に生きる』は日本では１９８２年に放映。地球に 生きるさまざまな生命を進化の過程になぞって解き明かしていく。 その番組のサントラを、かのトランク・レーベルから！となると 興味深くならざるを得ません。音楽は、記録映画の音楽ですでに キャリアを積んでいるエドワード・ウィリアムス。いわば、彼の いつもの仕事のうちのひとつ、である。ただ、イギリスの記録映画の サントラ、を聴く機会はまれなため、興奮すべきリリースである。 サウンドは、メロディアスというより、オーケストラ・サウンドによる 細部の描写を感じさせる展開。神秘的で深いサウンドは、まさに 記録映画のための音楽ならではのエキサイティングさを感じさせる。 後のフェントンの『プラネット・アース』ではなく、間宮芳生の『日本 万国博』のアバンギャルドやサイケさと同じ香りを感じる。 オーケストラ・サウンドですが、音響系ファンあたりにもお薦め。 (C)馬場敏裕
