From obscure indie glam darlings in Argentina to superstars all over Latin America and Spain, things have moved really fast for Miranda! since 2005. Their fourth studio album, Es Imposible, continues the vein inaugurated with 2007's El Disco de Tu Corazon, a record unmistakably designed for their much larger (and, crucially, much younger) new international audience. Once again at the helm is the current king of Latin pop producers, Cachorro Lopez (Diego Torres, Paulina Rubio, Rosario Flores, Andres Calamaro, Julieta Venegas, Alex Ubago, the list goes on and on), a man who was nominated for Latin Grammys as producer of seven different albums in 2009. Not surprisingly, everything in Es Imposible sounds big, polished, and ready to take over the airwaves of an entire continent. There is still a lot of vocal and songwriting talent in Miranda!, and Es Imposible features at least a couple of impossibly catchy tunes complete with trademark, marvelously spiraling choruses, such as "Mentia" and "No Lo Digas." There is every reason to believe that a professional Latin pop record such as this will make Miranda! into even bigger stars. ~ Mariano Prunes
