In 2001 Crowded House's Neil Finn organised 7 Worlds Collide, a star-studded live event in aid of the charity Medicins San Frontieres. In December 2008 Finn regrouped with members of the original line-up to record the studio album 'The Sun Came Out', this time in aid of Oxfam. Featuring Radiohead's Phil Selway and Ed O'Brien, Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy to name but a few, the album sees various members collaborating, some for the first time, on a unique collection of classic pop and rock songs.

2001年に行われたニール・フィン（元クラウデッド・ハウス/スプリット・エンズ）主催のライヴ・プロジェクト、7ワールズ・コライド。ジョニー・マーやレディオヘッド、ウィルコといった人気バンドのメンバーを集めて行われたライヴの模様はCDやDVDにもなり、大きな話題になったが、あれから8年を経て、ついに彼らがスタジオ・アルバムを発表。本作は、貧困をなくすために活動する団体「Oxfam」のためのチャリティ・アルバムで、レディオヘッドのギタリストであるエド・オブライエンとドラマーのフィル・セルウェイ、ジョニー・マー(元THE SMITH、MODEST MOUSE)、KTタンストール、ウィルコのジェフ・トゥイーディーとジョン・スティラット、グレン・コッツェ、パット・サンソン、マルチインストゥルメンタリストのリサ・ゲルマーノ、ビック・ルンガ、ニール・フィンの息子であるリアム・フィン、Soul CoughingのSebastian Steinbergら豪華ミュージシャンが参加！まさにスーパー･ユニットと呼ぶにふさわしいアルバムが完成。ニール・フィンとジョニー・マーによる共作曲「Red Wine Bottle」や、ニールとリアムのフィン親子とエド・オブライエンが共作した「Bodhisattva Blues」などにも注目。
