The Del Vikings were one of the rare doo wop groups from the 1950s to actually have two big radio hits, 1957's "Come Go with Me" and "Whispering Bells," and they had the talent to deliver even more hits, but internal squabbles and label confusions combined to derail the group's commercial potential. Their recorded legacy is top-notch, though, and this 28-track overview does a good job of showing why the Del Vikings were among the best groups of the doo wop era. The two big hits are here along with solid versions of "I'm Sitting on Top of the World" and "Cool Shake," among other gems. ~ Steve Leggett
