Legendary horror stronghold Hammer Studios' 1972 Dracula revamp (pun intended) Dracula A.D. marked the reinvention of the classic, austere, Victorian neck-biter into a modern day Lothario (still played by Christopher Lee) who prowls modern-day London in search of juicy teenagers, or more specifically, a young descendent of former nemesis Van Helsing. Composed and produced by writer/arranger Mike Vickers, the former guitarist/saxophone player for the Manfred Mann group, the soundtrack for the film mirrored its contemporary setting, utilizing orchestral cues that owed more to James Bond than Bernard Herrmann and featuring exclusive tracks from San Francisco-based pop outfit Stoneground, as well as an excerpt from "White Noise: The Black Mass -- An Electronic Storm in Hell" from electronic music pioneer David Vorhaus. ~ James Christopher Monger
