Major Lazer is a hard-living zombie vampire-killer who escaped the Jamaican jungle in 1984 on skateboard-back--or the dancehall-loving side project of DJs Diplo & Switch, unveiled in 2009 with the pair fresh off huge successes with M.I.A. Like the Gorillaz before them, the extravagant cover story is a clear contrivance. Also like the Gorillaz, when one peels away the gimmickry and hype, one uncovers a more-than-decent genre band. THE DJs' adoration of fast-spit reggae is incontrovertible, and the guest toasters abound from the worlds of pop (Santigold, Ms. Thing) and dancehall (T.O.K., Mr. Vegas).

バイリ・ファンキなどのモードをシーンに持ち込んできたディプロと、フィジェット・ハウスを世に広めたスウィッチ。先鋭的なダンス・ミュージックはいまや彼らを中心に回っていると言っても過言ではないですが、そんな旬の2人が噂のユニットをついに始動!　今回2人がリズムの下地に選んだのはダンスホール・レゲエ。TOKやヴァイブス・カーテルなど一線級の強者たちを招いてジャマイカで録音した気合も十分ながら、そこはこの2人のこと、もちろんただのダンスホールはやりません。サンティゴールドをフィーチャーして西部の荒野を暴れ回るかのような激しいオープニングから終始脱線しっぱなしで、スパイスの効きまくったゲットー・ビーツの連発!　とにかく予想以上の化学反応につき、取り扱いにはご注意を。
