ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY might not be the dissection of sequencers and synths that the title suggests, but there are enough interesting sounds and textures here to delight both novice and technophile alike. Once stuck inside your CD player, the trio that is Empirion strikes back-with a vengeance. The straight-ahead pulse of "Narcotic Influence" would be equally at home in modern dance and in yesteryear's electronic body music. Empirion's multiple strands of sequenced bass and laser-light synth are bright, energetic, and relentless. "Ayahuasca" has something of a techno-tribal feel, with rippling bell tones and rubbery electro lines, and is equally intoxicating.
