While both the band's name and the name of its third full-length might lead one to believe they're in store for some sort of retro hair-metal homage, Drop Dead Gorgeous are in fact a metalcore band, and a talented one at that. All the key ingredients are here: dramatically unhinged shrieks on the verse; anthemic pop melodies come the chorus; a necessarily heavy, yet stop-on-a-dime tight band; and a few contemporary studio bells and whistles to remind fans that this isn't their older brother's hardcore band. Drop Dead Gorgeous are undeniably good at what they do, and HOT N' HEAVY provides ample proof.
