クーベリックによる1957年の上演復刻で作品に新たな光が！
ベルリオーズ晩年の超大作で、主としてその規模故に作曲者存命中には部分的な上演しか行われず、完全な姿で上演されるまでに100年以上を要した《トロイ人》。1957年にクーベリックの指揮によりコヴェントガーデンで上演された貴重な記録がここに蘇りました。ディドー役にはブランシェ・シーボム、アエネーアスをポスト・デルモナコと称されたヴィッカーズが歌い、20世紀を代表するイギリスのドラマティック・ソプラノ、エイミー・シュアードがカサンドラー・・・と錚々たる歌手陣を揃えての上演は《トロイ人》を5幕のオペラとして復活させるきっかけともなった画期的なできごとでした。《トロイ人》全曲上演はベルリオーズの死後21年経った1890年に、カールスルーエで行なわれましたが、これはドイツ語版上演。その後1899年に第1部「トロイアの陥落」がパリのオペラ座で上演されました。1921年にはかなりカットされた全曲版が同じくオペラ座で上演され、この版で1957年にロンドン、コヴェント・ガーデンで上演されたものが今回のこの録音です。［コメント提供；ユニバーサルミュージック／IMS］
