Behind You is a collaboration between Si-(Cut).db's Douglas Benford and Robin "Scanner" Rimbaud. Those familiar with Rimbaud's methods of sample gathering via telephonic wave-tapping will surprise (and in some cases delight) at its absence here, Behind You taking its tekne instead from the medium of the internet. Rimbaud and Benford exchanged sound files and samples by e-mail, assembling the album over the course of a few weeks of digital tweaking and virtual collaboration. The result is some of the most inspired, imaginative "dance-based" (the term becomes almost meaningless) electronica ever released, comparable by turns to the work of the Black Dog, Orbital, Aphex Twin, Atom Heart, and Autechre, but also remarkably unlike any of them.
