『レス・ザン・ゼロ』『アメリカン・サイコ』の80年代の空気を切り取った作家ブレット・イーストン・エリス原作を2009年に映画化。かなりヤバいキャスト。このヤバさがわかるクチには楽しめるこの作品、まさに80年代的退廃の空気の群像劇。監督は、2003年に「ネッド・ケリー」をヒース・レジャーでリメイクしたグレゴワール・ジョーダン。音楽はクリストファー・ヤングですが、ホラーではありませんよ。かなり、乾いたエレクトロ・サウンドで、かつ、ホラー音楽ではないな、と思わせる怠惰な空気はちゃんと持っている。トーマス・ニューマンの研ぎ澄まされた哀しさのような雰囲気からもずらしている。ポスト・ロック的アプローチで、興味深いサウンドで、例えば、カーター・バーウェルあたりのサウンドのファンにもお薦めできる。何気に、アクセント的なアイデアも気に留めて聴かれたい。独特のかっこよさを漂わせる面白い劇伴!!
