Though Eddie Rabbit was already a successful songwriter for other artists (including Elvis Presley), his solo career really took off with ROCKY MOUNTAIN MUSIC. Less poppy, but no less catchy, than his later crossover albums, the record contains several top ten hits including the classic "Drinkin' My Baby (Off My Mind)." Much of the album, including the steel guitar-driven "Two Dollars in the Jukebox" and the barroom weeper "I Can't This Ring Off My Finger," finds Rabbit in a neo-honkytonk mood that presages the New Traditionalist movement of a decade later.
